Arashi Reef is a shallow reef dive located on the western side of Aruba, known as an accessible site well suited to beginners. Scattered across the reef are parts of a sunken Lockheed Lodestar aircraft lying at around 35 feet (10–11 m) of water, with coral formations having grown up around the wreckage and coral heads over time.
The reef is described as young and flat, with patches of reef interspersed with hard and soft corals, and a maximum depth of around 35–50 feet (approximately 10–16 m). It functions as a cleaning station for green and hawksbill turtles, making turtle sightings a realistic expectation on most dives. Parrotfish, angelfish, stingrays, and schools of fish are regularly seen among the coral heads and airplane wreckage.
Arashi Reef is a boat dive, reached from the western side of the island. Conditions permitting, dives can run up to 60 minutes, and ocean conditions may affect site availability on any given day.
