Beacon Point sits at the southern tip of Similan Island 8 and is a deep rocky dive, with depths from 5 to 40 metres. It has massive boulders from 20 to 35 metres on a white sandy bottom, and a rock at the surface that resembles a face.
The dive can lead up to the west or east toward Beacon Reef, and the two are often dived together. It benefits from more protection from sea and weather than most western Similan sites. It is said to have more coral species than any other Similan dive site.
Sharks and rays are common, and there are plenty of large fish. Along this stretch of reef you also find angelfish, butterflyfish, fairy basslets, pufferfish, porcupinefish, triggerfish and moray eels, with schools of bluefin trevally, snappers, fusiliers, goatfish and longnose emperors.
