Beadnell is a shore dive on the Northumberland coast, with sheltered bays and reef systems. The geology gives reefs that typically run east to west, with steeper north facing edges and gently sloping southern sides, which forms a saw tooth profile. The reefs are full of cracks, ledges and gullies, and hold fish, lobsters tucked into crevices and seasonal growth across the kelp.
Lady's Hole is a sheltered bay with a maximum depth of 10 metres and negligible current. The walk to the entry point is slightly steep and the rocks can be slippery. From the beach the seabed is rocky and gradually turns to sand, with reefs on both sides and a sandy channel through the middle, and a reef wall lies on a bearing of around 110 degrees from the entry point.
Beadnell Point North reaches 14 metres, with generally light current. It involves a longer walk out along the point, especially at low tide. The reef extends over 150 metres out to sea, its face rising up to five metres in places, and anemones and soft corals gather here. Near the entry point, in around 8 metres of water, lie the remains of the Yewglen, which ran aground in 1960, including parts of the boiler, hatches and scattered metalwork.
