Big Rock is a shore-accessible reef dive located along the Malibu coastline in the Pt. Dume to Big Rock stretch of the Southern California coast, roughly 30–40 miles east of Ventura Harbor. Entry is from the beach, though parking at the site is very limited. The reef runs straight out from the point and is composed of large rocks with a bottom type of rock, creating numerous crevices and small walls.
The reef structure features very large rocks draped in sea fans and kelp, with the overall reef being on the smaller side. The rock formations generate plenty of hiding spots throughout the site, making it a productive area to explore despite its compact footprint.
Marine life at Big Rock includes horn sharks, lobsters, scallops, and fish. The reef is described as healthy, with kelp growing directly from the rocks and sea fans covering the crevice walls.
