Black Coral Point is a rock and reef complex near the shore that is the deepest dive in its area, with depths of about 16 to 31 m and a boat ride of around 7 minutes. It is a dive for experienced divers.
The site is named for the black coral trees that cover it. A vast complex of boulders and rocky caverns is crowded with reef fish and soft corals, and crabs, bandit shrimp, moray eels, small groupers, puffer, surgeon and trigger fish move around the branches. Several cleaning stations sit among the crevices, with resident cleaner wrasse and larger visiting fish. It is an ideal site for macro photographers.
Conditions can be demanding. Being close to shore, you can expect strong swells and a sweeping current. A dusty haze can develop, but it clears enough for the view of the whole site to open up. With so much to look at, keep paying attention to your training and safety procedures.
