Black Rock Beach is a sandy shore dive in Point Pleasant Park, close to downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. It suits all levels and is an easy site, good for testing new gear or for new divers who want a straightforward dive.
A large parking lot sits at the entrance, and parking close to the beach gives you a wall that makes it easy to put on and take off gear. The beach is sandy with a gentle slope that helps with getting in and out.
There is a lot of sediment on the bottom, so stirring it up gives low visibility that can take several minutes to clear.
Navigation. Rocks lie on both sides of the beach. A bearing of 080 degrees from the beach leads to a small wreck, and a second wreck lies quite far out beside the container jetty on a bearing of 095 degrees. Check the site map before you go.
