Blue Hole is a drift dive on a reef in Baa Atoll, Maldives, named for a very wide hole that divers can swim through. It is a famous spot. The reef is described as a chimney-like structure adorned with coral, with the hole running through it into the deep blue. Rated advanced, with great visibility.
The current splits at one point in the middle of the reef, and divers are driven completely by its flow, which makes this an adventurous dive. Current is strong.
Marine life includes frogfish, leaf fish and nudibranchs, with larger predators in the deep blue. Sting rays, turtles, moray eels, hawksbill turtles, triggerfish and guitar sharks are also named here. The site is good for snorkelling over the opening and around the nearby coral reefs.
