Buffet is a rock and reef dive in Coiba National Park, Panama, and one of the highlights of the park. The name says what the dive offers: a lot of fish and sharks in one place.
Divers descend along the buoy line to about 12 m, where the reef begins, and the reef extends to a depth of about 28 m. The site is made up of several rock formations, and the last group of rocks is a big playground for many different groups of fish. Cleaning stations are found among the rocks.
Along the rock formations divers are almost guaranteed to see numerous sharks, which usually gather in small groups and rest in the sand. There are also many moray eels, shoals of barracuda and various kinds of jack. With luck, white-tip reef sharks and bluefin trevally can be seen hunting among the small fish. Manta rays and whale sharks sometimes appear, and whale sharks are seen in season.
