Cades Reef is a reef of 2 to 3 kilometres in length lying close to the coast of Antigua. It is a firm favourite with local divers and a beginner dive that gives a good outing almost every time.
Barracuda, rays and parrotfish are among the fish seen along it, and nurse sharks, octopus, flamingo tongue snails and sea slugs turn up as well. Purple patches of sergeant major eggs are found on the reef. A good torch and a look into the crevices pay off here, and visibility is good.
