Cantarel, also called Eagle Ray Wall and Eagle Ray Alley, is a wall dive in the north of Cozumel, Mexico, at about 20.534, -86.950. The depth range is 40 to 100 feet (12 to 30 m).
The eagle rays: the site is visited most when white spotted eagle rays migrate through Cozumel, usually from mid January to the beginning of March. The wall should be approached from the shallows. The plan is to hang on the wall and wait for the rays to pass, and at times 20 or more rays pass in formation at about 80 feet (24 m).
Strong currents are expected, along with wind and surface chop. The dive is for advanced divers with nitrox certification only.
Other life: there is plenty of other marine life to see, though the rays are the reason for the dive.
