Cathedral Rock lies among the small islands off Waigeo in Raja Ampat, part of the Pulau Wajang area in West Papua, Indonesia, within the Coral Triangle and typically reached by liveaboard or small boat from nearby island resorts. The reef bottom reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres, with good visibility and strong current, and is rated an intermediate dive. Divers have noted eddies and directional changes along with overhangs and even cold water patches, so current awareness matters here. Trevally and tuna are regular sightings, while divers have also reported anthias, clownfish, fusiliers, surgeonfish, reef sharks, reef manta rays, jacks and amberjack, dolphins passing through, and smaller finds like nudibranchs, frogfish, hairy frogfish, leaf scorpionfish, ghost pipefish and ornate ghost pipefish, and pipefish tucked along the reef.
