El Bufadero

El Bufadero is a boat dive site located beneath the Palm Mar cliffs in the south of Tenerife, reached by a short ride from Las Galletas harbour. The terrain combines volcanic rock slopes with open sandy bottom, descending from around 8 metres in the shallows to a maximum of 24 metres where the wall meets the sand.

The reef holds large schools of roncadores that gather close to the volcanic rocks and sandy bottom in the deeper section, with barracudas cruising nearby and moray eels and trumpetfish found among the formations. Rays and sea turtles are also encountered at the site, along with besugo, boga, salmon and bicuda.

Entry is by boat, and the sloping profile offers two distinct routes: a shallower course over volcanic rock for newer divers and a deeper run down the wall toward the sandy bottom for those with more experience. The minimum certification is Open Water. Current runs from none to light, and the site is considered suitable for all levels.
