About this site
El Dorado is an artificial reef on the Dauin coast of Negros Oriental, in the Philippines. Marine biologists planted metal frames and a sunken boat here, and nature has covered them in coral. Depths run from 5 to 25 metres and the site suits all levels, though advanced divers are preferred.
It is the richest site on the coast for the volume, size and variety of its fish life. Green turtles, blue-spotted stingrays, nudibranchs and shrimp live among the structures, and there are clouds of tarpon, barracuda, fusiliers and snappers. The water is 28 to 29°C and the best months are October to June.
