The Elpida Wreck is a 78-metre Greek cargo vessel that was purposely sunk as an artificial reef in late 2019, located in the waters off Cyprus. She was scuttled to serve as an underwater sanctuary, and amphoras were placed throughout to attract and encourage marine life to colonise the wreck.
The wreck sits with a maximum depth of around 27–28 metres, offering access to the holds, engine room, and the full exterior. The amphoras and structure provide penetration diving opportunities, making it a rewarding site for divers who want to explore inside as well as around the hull.
Marine life at the Elpida includes amberjack, grouper, octopi, parrotfish, and dolphins have also been reported in the area. The amphoras placed on the wreck are designed to draw in and shelter species, so the site's resident community continues to develop as the artificial reef matures.
The site is rated as intermediate difficulty and is best dived between April and November. Visibility is generally good, and water temperature ranges from 16°C in the cooler months up to 27°C at the height of summer. Diving is conducted by boat, and conditions are typical of the region's sheltered coastal waters during the season.
