Floreana is a dive destination clustered around the island of the same name in the Galápagos, reached by a 1.5–2 hour boat journey from Puerto Ayora depending on sea conditions. The site comprises three separate dive spots, each featuring rocky outcrops, small caves, and a sandy bottom that together provide varied terrain and excellent shelter for marine animals.
Currents at Floreana are very minimal, making it well suited to beginners while remaining a relaxed option for more experienced divers. The three sites collectively offer a mix of rocky relief and sandy patches, keeping dives interesting across the area.
Marine life here is notably diverse. Vast schools of black-striped salema fish can completely envelop a diver in their thousands, and the red-lipped batfish — with its leg-like fins and vivid cherry-red lips — is one of the more striking residents. White and blacktip reef sharks, green sea turtles, stingrays, eagle rays, and hammerhead sharks all frequent the sites. Playful juvenile sea lions are a highlight, often approaching divers and showing particular interest in fins.
All dives are boat-based, departing from Puerto Ayora. The minimal current and accessible terrain mean the site is rated suitable for divers of all levels, from beginners upward.
