French Cay is a reef and wall dive site in the Turks and Caicos, located approximately 40 minutes due south of Providenciales, where vibrant coral reefs plunge into the deep blue along a sheer wall.
The terrain is a sheer wall draped in abundant soft corals, with the reef dropping dramatically into deep water and featuring swim-throughs and dramatic drop-offs along its length.
The site holds large aggregations of Snapper and Grunts sheltering among the soft corals, with Creole Wrasses, Grouper, and Horse Eye Jacks congregating in numbers along the wall. Barracuda and Reef Sharks patrol the site, Eagle Rays pass through, and Caribbean Reef Sharks, sea turtles, Roughtail Stingrays, Flying Gurnards, and Octopi are also encountered here. November has produced particularly strong wildlife sightings, with calm conditions during that month allowing regular access to the site.
Access is by boat, with the site reached by a roughly 40-minute journey from Providenciales. The reef offers swim-throughs in addition to the main wall, giving divers varied routes to explore.
