Gamul Kebir is a round, doughnut-shaped reef located less than 30 minutes from the departure point, with ergs (coral pinnacles) extending to the northeast. The reef is accessible in any weather conditions. Maximum depth reaches 18 m, with an average depth of around 12 m, making it a shallow, manageable site over a reef bottom.
The current at Gamul Kebir typically comes from the north and runs light, and the site is rated suitable for all divers, including beginners. The ergs to the northeast are the main structural feature, rising from the reef and attracting dense aggregations of marine life around them.
Schools of fish surround the ergs throughout the site, and blue-spotted rays are found across the reef in numbers. Eagle rays and napoleon wrasse appear occasionally, adding larger pelagic interest to the dive.
