About this site
Gapow Reef is a double wall dive in Yap, Micronesia, with depths between 9 and 30 metres. The upper, near-vertical wall runs from 5 to 15 metres and sits on top of a wide sandy coral reef terrace that slopes off very gradually to 22 metres, where a second vertical wall drops away to the ocean floor.
Hard and soft corals mix well across the site, and small reef fish collect on the upper wall. Divers who want to watch pelagics usually swim along the lip of the deeper wall.
Visibility ranges from 18 to 30 metres or more, and the current runs at 0 to 3 km/h.
