About this site

Grote Knip is a beach and snorkelling site on Curaçao, described as the most photographed beach on the island. The reef sits on the rocky edges of the bay, with a maximum depth of about 5 m.

Swim toward the cliffs on either side of the bay and you find a small but colourful reef at 3 to 5 m. The central beach is sand, which is ideal for family swimming, and the reef is best reached by venturing to the flanks.

Parrotfish and angelfish are seen over the reef, with the occasional octopus tucked into coral crevices.

Visitors also cliff-jump from the left-hand rock, a local tradition. Weekends get busy, so arrive before 11 am. Visibility is good and the current is light.
