Habili Ali is an underwater pinnacle reef in the St. John's area of the Egyptian Red Sea that never breaks the surface, making it one of the more remote and exposed sites in the region. The reef runs from a shallowest point of 10 m down to 40 m, its structure covered in dense soft and hard coral gardens that remain pristine thanks to the site's isolation.
The consistent currents that sweep the pinnacle draw large aggregations of pelagic species: schools of barracuda, tuna, and trevallies are regular sights, along with grey reef sharks, silky sharks, and oceanic whitetip sharks. In certain seasons hammerhead sharks also visit, adding further weight to the site's reputation for open-water encounters.
Habili Ali's exposed position means strong currents are the norm, and the diving is dynamic and demanding as a result. The site is suited to experienced, advanced-level divers who are comfortable in powerful water movement. Water temperature sits at 29 °C.
