King Abdullah Reef is a popular reef dive in Aqaba, Jordan, named after King Abdullah II. It can be reached from the shore or by boat, about 30 metres out, with a buoy and a beach entry. Depth is given as 5 to 20 metres in one description and down to 40 metres in others, and it can also be snorkelled.
There is beautiful coral on top of the reef. A typical dive starts exploring the reef at the fan coral, crosses a gully, and runs south along the reef. When air runs low you turn north and come back to the shallows, where shoals of fusiliers gather.
Large shoals of pennantfish are found here, and torpedo rays are common. Hawksbill turtles are often spotted. Fire coral and black coral grow on the reef, so watch where you put your hands.
