Kuda Rah Thila is a protected marine area located in the South Ari Atoll region of the Maldives, roughly two hours from Hangnaameedhoo, and is regarded as one of the most beautiful reefs in the area. The site features large overhangs draped in sea fans, a narrow arch suited to swim-through photography, and depths ranging from 12 m down to 30 m, making it well suited to intermediate divers.
The fish life is arranged in distinct layers: fusiliers occupy the upper water column, schools of trevallies, bannerfish, and triggerfish move through the mid-water, and thousands of blue-striped snappers concentrate near the seafloor, producing a dense, shimmering effect. Grey reef sharks, jackfish, and ghost pipefish are also recorded at the site, and the abundant soft corals and gorgonian sea fans provide strong opportunities for both macro and wide-angle photography.
Kuda Rah Thila is diveable year-round. The site sits on the route toward the whale shark zone at Maamigili Out Reef, and depending on the season and prevailing sightings, a visit there may follow the thila dive.
