Las Cabras is a shore-entry dive site on the west coast of La Palma, Canary Islands, formed during the island's last volcanic eruption in 1971. The site and the small bay that serves as its entry point are set within an expansive volcanic landscape that extends all the way to the water's edge.
The terrain consists of young lava, with several lava tongues stretching down into depth, reaching a maximum of 35 metres. Black coral grows densely along one of these lava tongues from 35 metres down. On the ascent, divers pass through an archway and several small caves before reaching a platform at around 10 metres depth, making the shallower section as engaging as the deeper portions.
Entry is from shore at the bay, and high tide provides the most sheltered conditions for getting in. Once out of the bay, visibility is generally excellent, giving clear views down the lava tongues into open water where rays can be seen gliding past.
Water temperature ranges from 19–20 °C in February–March up to 24–25 °C in September–October, with diving possible year-round. Current can run strong. The site is rated suitable for beginners, though divers should be aware of conditions before entering.
