Octopus Rock is a pinnacle reef in Musandam, just over 50 minutes by boat from Dibba. It takes its name from the underwater ridges running off the main pinnacle, which resemble tentacles.
The main pinnacle is reached by descending in 17 m of water, and from there you work along different ridges. Some of the ridges go down to 35 m. Soft and hard corals cover the site.
Whale sharks, big-eye trevally, cobia, chevron barracuda, eagle rays, cow tail rays, round ribbon tail rays, batfish, seahorses, nudibranchs, fusiliers and plenty of eels are among the animals seen. Inquisitive batfish often accompany divers on the safety stop above the ridges. A tiger shark has also appeared here.
This is an advanced dive site. Nitrox gives extra safety and more time to explore. It is possible to do two dives on the site in one day.
