P555 is a submarine wreck lying at 38–41 metres approximately 12 miles from Weymouth. Originally a US Navy S-class submarine, she was lend-leased to the Royal Navy in 1942 and redesignated P555, serving with the 7th Submarine Flotilla at Holy Loch. After sustaining collision damage in the Clyde, she was intentionally scuttled by the Royal Navy in 1947 as an ASDIC sonar target, with the gun-deck and propellers removed before sinking.
The wreck sits upright and largely intact on a sandy seabed at 35 metres, with the conning tower rising to around 27 metres. The 90-metre-long hull is clearly recognisable, the seaplane hangar remains visible, and brightly coloured sponges cover the upper casing.
P555 is rated advanced, with depths of 38–41 metres and conditions that require diving at slack water. She is designated a war grave.
