Peleliu Express (also called Peleliu Expressway) is a high-speed drift dive site off Peleliu in Palau, running along a wall that reaches from 15 m down to 30 m and beyond. The site is famous for the "flying sensation" divers experience as strong currents sweep them along the wall face.
The terrain is a wall dive, and the current here is consistently strong, with visibility ranging from 30 to 50 m or more. Down currents are a genuine and documented hazard at this site — if caught in one, divers should move away from the wall and maintain depth rather than fighting it. Accidents have occurred here, so strict adherence to guide instructions is essential.
The site draws a notable range of large pelagic and reef animals. Eagle rays, turtles, giant groupers, and bull sharks are recorded sightings, and orcas have been observed here as well. The strong current is what attracts these larger predators and pelagics to the wall.
Entry is by boat onto a drift. A reef hook is recommended to hold position on the plateau section and watch the action before the drift continues. Divers should always carry an SMB. The site is rated for Advanced Open Water certification at minimum, with Nitrox also recommended given the depths and exertion involved.
