Sawang is a coral reef dive site on the southwest side of Siquijor, roughly one kilometre from Coco Grove Resort. The name means "to anchor" in Filipino, reflecting the site's position between two cliffs that shelter boats from waves. It is a gentle slope reef with patches of soft and hard corals, most rewarding at around 15 metres depth, and dropping to a maximum of 25 metres before giving way to rubble and sand. A narrow swim-through cuts through the reef, wide enough for only one diver at a time, and giant clams are distributed all along the site.
The reef holds a solid range of critters for those who look carefully: ghost pipefish, frogfish, lionfish, nudibranchs, and banded sea snake have all been recorded here, along with turtles. The site is described as a classic reef dive that consistently rewards a slow, unhurried approach.
Sawang is rated suitable for all levels, including beginners, and carries a medium current. The dive is accessible by boat.
