The Boardroom is a deep drift dive on the north-west corner of Pura Island in Indonesia, around a sloping ridge that extends west towards Pantar Island. It is a good site for reef sharks, eagle rays and schools of batfish, and at the right time the current really runs.
The north side of the ridge is covered in short, densely packed hard and soft corals, sea squirts and barrel sponges that have grown with a permanent lean from the prevailing current. Schooling damselfish swim hard to stay in place over the reef. Neon fusiliers stream overhead above cruising batfish, yellow back fusiliers rise in a column and midnight snappers hover close to the reef. Watch the blue for eagle rays and other passers-by.
The reef is also rich in eels. There are giant moray eels in holes, a free-swimming black ribbon eel, plenty of blue ribbon eels and a snowflake eel moving rocks to build its lair, with scorpionfish scattered across the rocks.
