The Stables is a dive site off Langkawi, about ten minutes from Cenang beach, with a maximum depth of 12 metres. It is a rocky, macro-oriented dive where seahorses and frogfish live, and the best approach is to keep close to the bottom and look slowly, because both animals are very well camouflaged.
The water around Langkawi is always moving as tides push between the small islands, and the plankton this carries feeds soft corals. Whip-corals, fan-corals, gorgonians and broccoli corals grow on the rocks here, and visibility is limited, so divers stay low and watch for small life among the colonies. The season runs from October to May.
