Toyon Bay is a bay where most of the diving is done from shore. The bottom is mostly sand, with rocky reef and emerging kelp forests at either end of the bay. Pier pilings and reef balls add structure to the middle.
Entry is by shore or surf entry, or by giant stride from a floating dock. A buoyed-off section next to the pier is used for confined water work. It has a sandy bottom to about 20 feet (6 metres), with multiple bottom lines and floated ascent and descent lines.
A kelp restoration project runs in the bay, with survey work, invasive algae removal and kelp introduction carried out by divers. Skin divers and snorkelers also explore the bay.
Confirmed by our research team, reported by independent divers, or observed nearby via iNaturalist — each entry is labelled with its source.
