About this site
Tribe Gate is a reef dive off Havelock Island in the Andamans, about a ten minute boat ride from the island. It is mainly used for Open Water training and Try Scuba dives, and many divers do their very first boat dive here.
Depth ranges from about 3 to 15 m, with a maximum near 14 m. The water is clear for most of the year, and on most days you can see marine life from the boat. A small group of sergeant major fish greets the boat as it arrives and can be seen from the surface.
Marine life includes turtles and humphead parrotfish, which are sighted often, along with other parrotfish, clownfish, surgeonfish, trumpetfish, boxfish, octopus, snappers, stingrays and groupers.

Despite its use for training, the reef is worth diving for its colour and its photography. Conditions are easy and it suits beginners.
