Community Standards
Last Updated: October 14, 2026
DiveConnect is a community of divers, dive centers, and ocean lovers. These Community Standards set the rules for how you may use our profiles, reviews, messaging, clubs, events, and other social features. They apply to everyone and form part of our Terms of Service. Breaking them can lead to content removal, warnings, suspension, or account termination.
1. Be Truthful & Authentic
- Use your real identity and accurate information. Do not impersonate others or run fake accounts.
- Do not misrepresent your certifications, credentials, or affiliation with a dive center or training agency.
- Reviews must reflect genuine, first-hand experiences. Do not post fake, incentivized, or retaliatory reviews.
2. Reviews & User Content
You are responsible for the content you post. When you post reviews, photos, comments, listings, or messages, you agree that your content:
- is your own or properly licensed, and does not infringe anyone's intellectual-property or privacy rights;
- is honest, relevant, and not deliberately misleading;
- does not contain other people's private or personal information without their consent;
- does not contain spam, advertising, or attempts to move transactions off-Platform to avoid fees.
Copyright complaints are handled under our DMCA / Copyright Policy.
3. Prohibited Conduct
You may not use the Platform to post, send, or do any of the following:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age.
- Sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualizes or endangers minors.
- Violent, graphic, or gratuitously disturbing content, or content that promotes self-harm.
- Illegal activity, including trafficking in protected marine species, poaching, or damaging protected reefs and dive sites.
- Unsafe diving advice presented as professional instruction, or encouragement of clearly reckless diving practices.
- Fraud, scams, phishing, or misrepresenting prices, availability, or bookings.
- Spam, bulk unsolicited messages, malware, or attempts to hack, scrape, or disrupt the Platform.
- Posting another person's private information ("doxxing") or intimate images without consent.
4. Respect Diver Safety
DiveConnect is a neutral platform and does not provide diving instruction or safety supervision. Content on the Platform — including community posts and AI-assisted tools — is not a substitute for training from a certified professional, a dive briefing, or medical advice. Always follow the safety guidance of the certified Dive Provider running your dive.
5. Reporting & Blocking
Report. In the DiveConnect app, posts, comments, profiles, and chat messages have a Report option. On the website, listings and chat messages have a Report option. You can report anything else — or anything at all — by emailing support@diveconnect.io with a link and a short description. Reports are confidential — we do not tell the person who was reported who reported them. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
Block. You can block another user from a chat, and in the app from their profile or a post. A blocked user cannot message you, and in the app their posts and comments are hidden from you straight away.
Automatic screening. Images uploaded to public areas are screened automatically for nudity and other unsafe content before they are published; images that fail are deleted and never shown. Uploaded documents are scanned for malware.
6. How We Review Reports
We review every report within 24 hours. Content that breaks these Standards is removed, and we act against the account that posted it — depending on severity and history, a warning, feature limits, suspension, or permanent removal. Serious violations — such as content endangering minors, credible threats, or illegal activity — are actioned immediately, the account is removed, and we report to the authorities where the law requires.
7. Appeals
If you believe we removed content or actioned your account in error, you may appeal by emailing support@diveconnect.io within 30 days. Include your account details and why you believe the decision should be reconsidered. A different member of our team reviews appeals, and we reply within 14 days.
8. Changes
We may update these Community Standards from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last Updated" date above. Current version: 2026-10-14.
