Cressi Giotto setup guide
Three-button wrist computer (Air, Nitrox with up to two mixes, Gauge). Giotto 2.0 is a different model with its own manual; this guide covers the original Giotto only.

Units (m/ft, °C/°F)
Depth and temperature are linked: metres with °C, or feet with °F (page 11).
Press > or < until SYSTEM appears, then press MODE until 'S.UNIT' shows °C/m or °F/ft.
Press>PressMODE
Manual p. 11Press MODE again so the units flash.

Manual p. 11
Water type (salt/fresh)
Not available on this computer
There is no salt/fresh setting: depth is calibrated for sea water, and fresh-water depths read about 3% lower (page 20).
Dive mode (Air / Nitrox / Gauge)
Factory setting is MODE-S AIR (page 10). While GAGE is on, MODE-S, DIVE-S and PLAN are disabled (page 10).
Press > until MODE-S appears, then press MODE. The word Air flashes.
Press>PressMODE
Manual p. 6Press > or < to switch between Air and NITROX.
Press>Press<
Manual p. 6Hold MODE for a few seconds until it beeps to confirm. Or wait: it saves automatically, beeps and goes back to the main screen.
HoldMODE
Manual p. 6Switching from NITROX back to AIR resets both mixes to 21% O2 and PO2 1.4 bar.
Manual p. 7For gauge only: go to the GAGE screen, press MODE (ON/OFF flashes), then press > or < to switch GAGE on or off.
PressMODEPress>Press<
Manual p. 10Hold MODE until it beeps to save the GAGE choice, or wait and it saves by itself and returns to the main screen.
HoldMODE
Manual p. 10Warning: after a dive in GAGE the computer makes no decompression calculations for 48 hours. A 'G' icon shows when GAGE is on.
Manual p. 10
Nitrox O₂% and ppO₂ limit
Factory values: PO2 1.4 bar, Mix1 and Mix2 at 21% (page 8). The mix can be changed in a surface interval only after the first 2 minutes (page 8).
First set MODE-S to NITROX (see Dive mode). PO2 and O2 % can only be changed in NITROX mode.
Manual p. 7-8Press > until DIVE-S appears, then press MODE. PO2 and the Mix1 marker flash.
Press>PressMODE
Manual p. 7Press MODE so only PO2 flashes. Set 1.2–1.6 bar with > or <, then hold MODE until it beeps.
PressMODEPress>Press<HoldMODE
Manual p. 7In DIVE-S, press > once so the Mix1 FO2 (O2 %) flashes, then press MODE.
Press>PressMODE
Manual p. 8Set the O2 % (21–50%) with > or <; the max depth updates. Hold MODE until it beeps.
Press>Press<HoldMODE
Manual p. 8For one Nitrox mix, set only Mix1. Mix2 (21–99%) is for a second, decompression gas.
Manual p. 6Giotto keeps the last O2 % until you change it or switch MODE-S to AIR. Check it before every dive.
Manual p. 8
Conservatism / personal setting
Press > until DIVE-S appears, then press MODE.
Press>PressMODE
Manual p. 9Press > or < until you reach the SF item.
Press>Press<

PressMODEPress>Press<
Manual p. 9Hold MODE for a few seconds until it beeps to confirm. Or wait: it saves automatically, beeps and goes back to the main screen.
HoldMODE
Manual p. 9SF0 is the factory setting (off). A higher SF gives shorter no-decompression times and a more conservative dive.
Manual p. 9
Altitude
Giotto does not adjust for altitude automatically; you must set it before diving above sea level (page 10).
Press > until DIVE-S appears, then press MODE.
Press>PressMODE
Manual p. 9Press > or < until you reach the ALT item, then press MODE.
Press>Press<PressMODE
Manual p. 9Choose the level with > or <: no mountain 0–700 m, 1 mountain 700–1500 m, 2 mountains 1500–2400 m, 3 mountains 2400–3700 m.

Audible alarms (depth / time)
Not available on this computer
The manual describes no user-set depth or dive-time alarms and no sound on/off option; built-in audible alarms cover ascent rate, PO2 limit, CNS oxygen and decompression warnings (pages 13-16).
Reading the log after a dive
Stores the last 60 dives; data stays on screen for 20 seconds (page 17).
On the surface, press > (page 17 says press and hold >) until LOG appears. The latest dive is shown first.
Press>

Manual p. 18
Battery
Check the battery icon on the PRE DIVE screen.
Manual p. 5If the battery icon shows only one segment, do not use the computer.
Manual p. 6Replace the CR2430 3 V battery whenever the low-battery symbol shows. The cover opens with a coin.
Manual p. 19-20Do not change it during desaturation: nitrogen data, time and date are lost; then do not dive for 48 hours. Reset time and date.
Manual p. 19
