3 Milhas sits off Sesimbra, a fishing town on the Atlantic coast of the Setubal district in Portugal, west of Lisbon across the Arrabida hills. The name refers to a distance offshore, roughly three miles out from the harbour, in the waters where Sesimbra's dive boats commonly operate along this rocky stretch of coastline.
