About this site
Abu Galawa Kebir sits in the central Red Sea off the coast of Egypt, in the string of reef systems south of Hurghada often visited on liveaboard routes toward the southern islands. The site lies within the offshore reef and island area rather than close to the mainland shore, reached only by boat. It is a wreck dive with a maximum depth of around 18 metres and is rated beginner friendly. Divers have reported clownfish, lionfish, moray eels, Napoleon wrasse, nudibranchs, octopus, and reef sharks around the wreck structure.
