About this site

Abu Hashish sits off the coast near Safaga, a port town along Egypt's Red Sea Governorate known as a diving and windsurfing hub south of Hurghada. The reef reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres, is rated a beginner dive, and offers great visibility. Barracuda, hammerhead sharks, squid, and tuna are present here, and divers have also reported anthias, cuttlefish, eagle rays, grouper, mackerel, moray eels, nudibranchs, octopus, reef sharks, and stingrays on the reef. The boat trip out from Safaga's marina has been described as choppy at times, with rough seas on occasion.
