This freshwater dive site off Main Duck Island in Ontario is a hidden gem for wreck enthusiasts. Several intact shipwrecks rest on the sandy bottom, encrusted with zebra mussels that shimmer in the sunlight. Expect dramatic visibility in cold, clear waters, often exceeding 50 feet. Schools of perch and bass dart between the wreck structures while massive lake trout occasionally cruise by. Strong currents make this an advanced dive, but the well-preserved wrecks and unique Great Lakes ecology reward experienced divers. Summer offers the best conditions, though drysuits are recommended year-round.
