About this site
Aldabra Main Channel lies within the Aldabra Atoll, part of the Outer Islands of Seychelles, where the lagoon empties into the surrounding Indian Ocean through a tidal channel. Diving here reaches a maximum depth of around 15 metres and is considered an intermediate dive, and divers have reported strong current running through the channel with the tides. Grouper and tuna are among the fish divers have noted here, and whale sharks have also been reported passing through. Aldabra itself is a remote, largely uninhabited coral atoll and UNESCO World Heritage Site, reached only by boat after a long crossing from the Seychelles inner islands.
