Djibouti City sits at the southern edge of the Gulf of Tadjoura, on the western shore near the Bab-el-Mandeb strait, where the Red Sea meets the Gulf of Aden. The waters off the city and its port area draw divers to a number of wreck and reef sites accessible by short boat trips from the harbor.
