About this site
Antilla Wreck is a German freighter that lies off the west side of Aruba. Its captain scuttled it on 10 May 1940, and the Dutch authorities on the island tried to take it but arrived too late. The hull is about 144 m (430 ft) long and rests on sand at a maximum depth of 16.5 m (55 ft), a beginner dive in light current and great visibility.
Coral and sponges cover the wreck, and plenty of marine life gathers around it. Because of its age the wreck is not entered. Unlike the other boat dives on the island's south-east side, it is not dived as a drift. Green turtles, moray eels, stingrays, octopus, scorpionfish, frogfish and angelfish have been reported here.
