About this site
The Arabia is a wooden schooner that sank in Lake Huron in 1884 while carrying corn, going down in a storm near the Fathom Five area off the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario. It lies at a maximum depth of around 33.5 metres, cold and deep enough to be rated an advanced dive. The wreck sits largely intact on the bottom, with masts and rigging still recognizable, and the cold fresh water of the lake has helped keep the timbers from breaking down as they would in the ocean. It is one of the better known wrecks within Fathom Five National Marine Park, typically visited by boat out of Tobermory.
