About this site
Christo Rei is the peninsula east of Dili, Timor-Leste, capped by the large statue of Christ that gives the site its name. The back side refers to the seaward face of this headland, facing away from Dili harbor toward the open water of the Wetar Strait. The reef here reaches a maximum depth of around 40 metres and is rated a beginner dive. Divers have reported dugongs, eagle rays, hammerhead sharks, nudibranchs, snapper, and trevally along this stretch of reef.
