About this site
Baixa Da Barca lies off the coast of Faial island in the Azores archipelago, in the mid-Atlantic waters of Portugal. Faial's shoreline is volcanic in origin, with submerged rocky reefs and banks that draw dive operators out from Horta and the surrounding coastal villages. This particular bank reaches a maximum depth of around 40 metres and is rated an advanced dive. Divers have also reported barracuda and grouper around the site.
