About this site
Balandra lies on the Baja California Sur coast near La Paz, Mexico, along the Gulf of California. The site is a reef dive to a maximum depth of around 24 metres, rated beginner with generally light current. Divers have reported angelfish, barracuda, damselfish, eagle rays, grouper, nurse sharks, octopus, parrotfish, snapper, and wrasse along the reef. Some divers have noted narrow swim-throughs and coral formations that call for careful buoyancy, along with a wall drop-off where depth can build quickly along the sand slopes and current can strengthen at depth, so it's worth staying close to your group in those areas.
