About this site
Barra Velha offers a rocky reef dive with vibrant marine life in the Algarve. Expect strong currents that bring schools of barracuda, groupers, and occasional rays. The site features dramatic underwater cliffs and crevices teeming with octopus and moray eels. Visibility is often excellent, reaching 20 meters. Depths range from 12 to 30 meters, suitable for intermediate divers. The Atlantic waters here are cooler, so a thicker wetsuit is recommended. A great spot for drift diving and photography.
