About this site
Bathalaa Kandu is a channel dive site in Baa Atoll, an atoll on the western side of the Maldives archipelago known for its channels connecting the inner lagoon to the open ocean. Kandu sites in this part of the Maldives typically involve drift diving along coral-covered channel walls where current pushes divers past overhangs and coral formations. Baa Atoll itself is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and its channels are generally visited by boat from resorts and liveaboards operating in the atoll. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 28 metres, and divers have reported eagle rays and tuna moving through the channel.
