About this site
Birchy Head is a shore dive site along the Nova Scotia coast, reaching a maximum depth of around 70.1 metres and rated as a technical dive. Divers entering here have reported it can be easy to lose orientation underwater and miss the beach on return, so care with the exit point matters. Other hazards noted include fishing buoys and lobster traps with lines during lobster season, notable surge when the wind blows from the south, and round rocks underfoot along the entry that can present a tripping hazard.
