About this site
Blackish Point is a reef dive site off Utila, characterized by volcanic rock topped with soft corals from a shallowest point of 35 ft (about 11 m) down to a main wall that drops to around 60 ft (18 m), with a second reef to the left sloping to 90 ft (27 m). The topography is notably varied, featuring crevices, overhangs, and caves along the wall face.
The dive is typically run as a one-way drift dive heading east, with the main wall kept to the right. Mild current is the norm, and the site suits intermediate divers comfortable with drift diving.
Blackish Point is one of the few sites in the area where large Midnight Parrot Fish are regularly encountered. Green Moray Eels and Brown Spotted Moray Eels are also present, along with Lobster and Drum Fish.
