About this site
The Blue Cave, or Modra Špilja, sits on the small island of Biševo, just off Vis in Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia. It is best known as a snorkel and boat tourist attraction rather than a scuba site, famous for the blue light that fills the cavern when sunlight enters through an underwater opening around midday. Access for diving is tightly restricted since the site is managed as a protected tourist attraction with timed boat visits from Vis and Komiža. Where diving is possible, the cave bottoms out at around 15 metres.
