Blue Lake sits in the Great Salt Lake Desert of northwestern Utah, near Wendover, fed by artesian springs that keep it a distinct turquoise color against the surrounding salt flats. It is a small, isolated body of water reached by driving out on unpaved desert roads off the main highway corridor between Utah and Nevada.
